Integrity versus Corruption

Gold!

While the commentators on Fox News may not be very polite, (talking over one another and preferring to make the news more than to cover the news) it does remain, in my view a relief from what the rest of the news media are doing.

I mention this as preface to what I want to say here about gold, because gold peddlers seem to be the primary advertisers on Fox News. What strikes me at this point is that they never do get to the real point where gold is concerned.

Gold is monetary integrity. Fiat money, (money that is money by law rather than market choice) is corruption. It is a lie. At various times in our history, U.S. money promised to pay the bearer in gold – then it promised to pay the bearer in silver. Then it claimed to be legal tender, and perhaps the worst lie of all: it claims to “trust in God.”

This is a pack of lies, but the gold peddlers don’t seem to be willing to go that far in singing gold’s praises.

This is all about the historic, even Biblical battle between integrity and corruption. The Monetary “powers” and their apologists are clearly on the side of corruption. Sad to say the Bible is clear as to who wins in the short run – the liars.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12:

“ Now we beseech you, brethren, touching the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him; to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from us, as that the day of the Lord is just at hand; let no man beguile you in any wise: for it will not be, except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know that which restraineth, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season. For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only there is one that restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and bring to nought by the manifestation of his coming; even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” American Standard Version (ASV)

The monetary version of the lie is identified as the number “666,” without which no one can buy or sell, Revelation 13:17-18.

Those bent on corruption don’t want you to have options. The liberty of options is contrary to their tyranny of lies.

As for no longer being able to buy and sell, that has to do with end of merchandising and merchants, (Canaanites), Zechariah:

“Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite[c] in the house of the LORD Almighty.” Zechariah 14:21

That is the last verse of Zechariah in the NIV translation. Footnote [c]  is:

[c] Zechariah 14:21 Or merchant

In the long run Love wins – not just any love, but the Love of God redefined at and by the cross of Christ. The Love that goes beyond the love for friends all the way to a new kind of Love, which turns out to be good for enemies, Romans 5:10. This is the incorruptible medium of exchange for The Body of Christ, The Kingdom of God, even The Church. This is the ultimate integrity that never fails.

Love!

Follow-up on the last blog post

The following is a quote from Juan Carlos Ortiz, received by snail mail from my good friend Jon Zens only yesterday:

“Jesus did not come to start an institution. He never intended to buy a piece of land and build a headquarters. We have to ask the Spirit today how to meet the needs of today… Suppose the Lord tells me to me to eat an orange. So I eat the orange and sincerely believe that God has led me. Tomorrow, The Lord tells me to eat an orange again. So what happens? The next day I write down the rule to eat an orange every day. And do you see what that does? Now I don’t need the Spirit anymore. I have a law instead. Laws kill life. Laws stop growth. You end up staying with the concept, a principle, or a doctrine rather than life. What we did yesterday in the Spirit, we do today in the flesh,” (The Door Interviews, Zondervan, 1989, pp. 185, 189).

Change in Covenants

The Old Covenant was of the letter and was made obsolete at or by the cross, in either case, by the time the Spirit came in a new way at Pentecost.

The New Covenant came in, by, and with the Spirit at Pentecost.

The Old Covenant was of the letter – a matter of words.

The New Covenant was, and is, of the Spirit – a matter of the Spirit.

The problem comes when we try to reduce to words what can only happen in and by the Spirit. This takes us back in time to the letter – even letters that kill, and away from the Spirit who gives life.

I believe this is what happened early on after Pentecost, like within the first 100 years, for instance, The self appointed experts tried to reduce to words what had happened in the Spirit and the result was the Dark Ages. Now as then, our feeble attempts to reduce the work of The Spirit to words always takes us to the “Dark Side.”

If we can only take the time to discern whether or not a person is in a Spiritual place to receive our verbal communication or attempts to communicate where we might be in the Spirit, then it is better to wait until a more opportune time – You know, kind of like what Jesus did at The Last Supper – “I have more to say to you, but you are not yet ready to receive it…”

Happy Sunday!

Love!

Jay
