Canaanites

This is by way of the continuation of my last blog. My impression is that The Lord is indeed willing:

Over the years, I have discovered, (the hard way) why The Lord commanded that the children of God wipe out the Canaanites when they went in to possess the Promised Land. I those days the land was a geographical place. In our days, the Land is a Spiritual place. The Canaanite problem remains the same, however, and that is what I would like to touch on here.

Canaanite means “merchant.” Merchants are still with us today. Prostitutes are also merchants. Prostitutes do for money, what ought to be only done for love or in love. That’s the difference between the two women of the Book of Revelation. One woman is described in Revelation Chapter 17, and 18, and the other woman is described in Chapter 21.

That’s the situation as the end of the age approaches, but in the beginning of time we get to see what and how God is, and what he is after – what He is hoping for. This has to do with relational intimacy. In the first instance the intimacy of the Godhead before the World began. He made us male and female in that image, even before the woman was removed from the first Adam. Male and female is all about relationship – intimate relationship. This is not about sexual plumbing. It is about pure, uncluttered or uncomplicated relationship.

It is here, I have come to see that Romans 8:14-25 has it’s origins.

So here is the deal as I have come to understand it: The creator in creating is hoping for an expanded intimacy in the Godhead, one that includes us. But for that intimacy to be compatible with the Godhead, it needs to be born of the same DNA as the only begotten Son of God. The availability of this seed had to wait for the crucifixion and resurrection of God’s Son, John 12 – “Except a kernel of wheat…”

He is described as “born of a woman,” and we are also born of a woman, Isaiah 54:1 according to Galatians. For this person a woman was needed, and so the “female” was removed from the first Adam, and called “woman,” having been taken out of the man.

In the fullness of time, again Galatians, God was intimate with this woman, and The Word became flesh and dwelt for a while among us.

As Long as the Son remained in the flesh there was only one SEED, again Galatians. That SEED was multiplied by death and resurrection and made available in and by the Spirit on the day of Pentecost and after.

Jesus prayed that all who shared Him and in Him would be one, John 17:21. As I understand it we were and are to be one in his love, free of any other agenda. It is right here that religious merchants do their terrible work. Like Satan, it is rooted in the “I will ascend” mentality, that got Lucifer kicked out of heaven.

It is this agenda, not so hidden as it turns out, once we know what to look for, that is the reason for the last verse of Zechariah.

There is no room for hidden agenda on the “lear as glass,” street of GOLD in the New Jerusalem. If you understand this, and communicate it by word and life style you will be rejected by the merchants because you are a threat to their business.

In the meantime, their professed desire for relationship, which is increasingly becoming a buzz word, and fueling the latest cutting edge religious dog and pony shows, makes it more difficult to discern the real thing. Relationships that come from God are the real thing. Relationships that merchants seek are rooted in a “let’s make a deal” mentality or agenda. The mercantile mentality does relationships in order to gain access to center stage, and the preeminence and financial support, which goes with it. They tend to like lectures rather than relationships, because it’s hard to take up an offering for a conversation.

In short, religious merchants strike right at the heart of what God, The Creator is hoping for!

Rejection a Tell Tale Sign!

TRUTH: “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war,”  2 Chronicles 16:9.

The “eyes of the Lord” are looking for those who embrace the truth – all of the truth. Jerusalem not only rejected all of the TRUTH, but crucified it.  Just what is it about TRUTH that makes it so unpalatable? It is hidden agenda. The rejection of TRUTH reveals hidden agenda. It is then just a matter of discerning what that hidden agenda is. Both Biblically and experientially, even to the searching of our own hearts, the root problem is the desire for preeminence and center stage, 3 John 9.   The root cause is feeling “less than,” or in other words, an identity crisis.  This is the crisis that made the couple in the Garden of Eden vulnerable to the serpent’s temptation to eat the wrong stuff in order to be “like God.”

The Remedy for “less than” is the Revelation of The Cross. This is the place where we discover the redefined love of God, ie.e. the redefined “agape” of God.

That is the foundation stone of “more than,” Romans 8:37.  It is there, and only there, where hidden agendas have any chance of being taken captive.

Of course it is possible to be rejected for communicating error, but it is just as possible, and perhaps even more so, for communicating TRUTH.  The history of what’s been calling itself “church” (including “reformation church,” “cutting edge church,” and even “revival church”) is all proof enough of the ongoing rejection of TRUTH. All of these brands of “church” have mud on their feet from where they have been. It is right here that the need for foot washing comes into its most important revelation.

Rejection of Truth tells tales on hidden agendas.

Love!

Tried in the Balances*

balancesAs I look forward to the verdict of my oncologist this next week, I am reminded once again of a couple of places in the Scriptures:

“Length of days is in the hands of The Lord” ~ Proverbs 3:13-18

“For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: We bring our years to an end as a sigh. The days of our years are threescore years and ten, Or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away” ~ Psalm 90:9,10

“To live is Christ and to die is gain””  ~ Philippians 1:21

That being said, the “law of sin and death,” has been replaced by the Spirit of life in Christ!  (Romans 7:18-25 & 8:2)

Truth:

Truth resides in the Spirit of Christ.  He is the Truth.  By the Spirit, the Truth is resident in us who believe.  It is the gift of God by revelation-  lest any be tempted to boast.

So here’s the deal as I have come to understand it: It is better, by far, to die and be with Christ. (I should say that the Biblical evidence is that, while God is always conscious of us, even in our death, we are not always conscious of God, especially in our death. Call it “soul sleep” or what ever makes sense out of it for you, but either way, when the time is right, like at the last trumpet when we are all changed, whether we have been sleeping or not, we will awake bright eyed and bushy tailed to enjoy our fellowship with God and each other in Christ!)

What I do want to get at here, however, is the reason for sticking around in this old creation life, no matter the state of our deterioration. We remain here for the sake of those around us. Clearly the bottom line is the impartation or communication of Truth to the”others” in our lives.  (Keeping in mind that Jesus is the Truth, and that’s what we’re talking about here)

While we should be careful with the Truth, lest we hurt people with a careless wielding of the Sword of the Spirit. For instance, to the Corinthians Paul wrote that he could not address them as spiritual or mature, but carnal/immature. This just to say that we need to keep in mind where we are and to whom we are communicating the truth. Even Jesus had more to share at the “Last Supper” than His disciples were ready to hear. Love keeps track of where loved ones are, both in the flesh, and in the Spirit.

What I am increasingly concerned about is the possibility of being so careful – so concerned not to offend that we compromise the truth whether by omission or by sharing error (i.e. truth with a little bit of leaven mixed in)  Just to remind you, Jesus identified leaven as hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is the presentation of something, or even our selves, as genuine, when it is not. For present purpose, I would like to stay on track by suggesting that “Genuine” is TRUTH.

Truth is best found by searching the Word of God, whether in the Bible or in The Spirit. For instance, God is very clear in His word concerning what He considers “Church.” What the traditions of men have taught us is Church isn’t even close. The same could be said for most of tradition’s ministerial add-ons from apostles to pastors, and all the claims in between. For too long the saints have been taxed to pay for hypocrisy, presumption and preeminence.

It is past time to stop feeling sorry for all three. It is time, even past time for the TRUTH. If I have it right in my present condition, that’s what I have been left around to do. Over the years, I have been more than willing to share the truth both inside and outside the camp – generally on the outside, where the TRUTH is mostly to be found, “And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come,” Hebrews 13:12-14.

It was a place “outside the camp” where TRUTH was crucified. That same TRUTH came also with GRACE, “Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” John 1:16-18 NIV.

Aren’t we glad that TRUTH came with GRACE?  It’s very difficult to imagine how TRUTH might have reacted to crucifixion if GRACE had not been right there with It!
