Divine Wounding

Short and simple, but an early post of Jay’s worth visiting again…

Current Events – The View From Here: BORN IN WOUNDEDNESS

Originally posted on February 12, 2011 by Jay Ferris

There are essentially two kinds of woundedness; human woundedness, and Divine woundedness.  “The Mark of Cain” was placed on the first of the wounding.  Cain was an older brother displaced by a younger one.  Beginning with Hagar, and Ishmael, Islam was born in woundedness, (rejection).  The perspective, understanding, and conversation of woundedness is easily detected by the discerning ear.  Human wounding is the fruit of its own fallenness.  Kingdoms born of human wounding make bad choices – choices that take us down rather than raise us up.

The Kingdom of God is born of Divine wounding.

The difference is that The King was:

“… pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep,
have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
~Isaiah 53:5, 6

One more observation: All religion rooted in law, rather than “loving like God”, is wounded and wounding.  When Christianity “forgot the height from which it had fallen,” it too became wounded and wounding.  Revelation 2:5

Jesus is Lord of Relationship

“To date, the crash and burn rate among leaders in the “church” has become epidemic, even to the inclusion of child molestation. This suggests to me that, where chemistry is concerned, denial is not the answer. I believe that “getting the point” is.  And, having gotten the point, knowing who you are in relationship to others is also core, and Jesus must be Lord of that, Lord of relationship. What is calling itself “church” makes great boasts about its capacity for charismatic knowing of ministry gifts, but has not yet seen that, charismatic knowing where relationships are concerned is just as important, and perhaps even more foundational. Before Jesus gifted those who were His, He knew that they were His as a gift from God.”

One thing led to another and this post by Jay Ferris went viral :-)   Written in 1992, it was found tucked in some pages that simply needed reformatting.  May it be a blessing!
