“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Php 2:8
The following song by Frank Sinatra was one of Jay’s many favorites. It was precious to listen to it recently in conjunction with the recent quote on the Loving Like God Facebook Community Page:
“Merchants will go only just so far, but lovers will go all the way. Jesus went all the way. As I understand it, He fixed it so that we could go all the way too.” ~ Jay Ferris
Here is the song, followed by the lyrics. Please feel free to share what you hear in the song!
All The Way
When somebody loves you
It’s no good unless He loves you all the way
Happy to be near you
When you need someone to cheer you all the way
Taller than the tallest tree is
That’s how it’s got to feel
Deeper than the deep blue sea is
That’s how deep it goes if it’s real
When somebody needs you
It’s no good unless He needs you all the way
Through the good or lean years
And for all the in-between years come what may
Who knows where the road will lead us
Only a fool would say
But if you’ll let Me love you
It’s for sure I’m gonna love you all the way
…all the way
“I’m gonna love you all the way
…all the way”
I think the thing that struck me most was the phrase “Who knows where the road will lead us….only a fool would say”. In light of the ‘being’ in the relationship sung about, there’s no worries of what the future may hold…only the completeness of the love being expressed. That’s the place where Jesus wants us to arrive in His love for us, as well as our love for Him.
That part struck me too, Maidena. That even Frank Sinatra ‘cries out’ that we can’t love someone with perfect love, and ‘worry’ at the same time where the road of love is taking us. Perfect love casts out all fear.
So deeply true, His absolute perfect Love is…perfect in every way
Just had to do a quick re-write. Hope someone can improve it. Don’t know if it fits the music or not. If you don’t like it just delete.
All The Way
When the Lord loved you.
Was so good because He loved you . . .all the way
He wanted to be near you;
Wanted to be the One to cheer you . . . all the way
Taller than the tallest tree is
The cross on Mt Calvary
Deeper than the deepest sea
Where he plunged my sin and fear
When the Lord needed you
Knew twas no good unless he needed you . . . all the way
Through the good and lean years
Through the in-between years since that day
He knows where the road will lead you
Let Him show you the way.
But if you let Him love you
It’s for sure He’s gonna love you . . . all the way
All the way.
Gerry, that’s awesome!! Thank you so much! I love it. I especially love the stanza you did:
Taller than the tallest tree is
The cross on Mt Calvary
Deeper than the deepest sea
Where he plunged my sin and fear
Beautiful:)))
