Relational Deism

De·ism:

  1. Belief in the existence of a God on the evidence of reason and nature only, with rejection of supernatural revelation.
  2. Belief in a God who created the world but has since remained indifferent to it.

A recent encounter with some new friends struck me with something this morning:

What’s been calling itself “church” practices relational Deism. This is to say, they give God credit for being present and active among His people, but refuse to believe that He is also active in the formation of relationships among believers.

The God I know–both from His Word and experientially–is Lord of relationships gender neutral, which is to say, without regard to gender.

Love!
