Welcome to the first day of new focus!

Dear Readers,

The first sentence Jay Ferris wrote on LovingLikeGod.com was at the start of 2011.

It was:

  • Welcome to the first day of new focus!

After that, (until the Lord took him home in 2013) he posted regularly and mostly on two revelations he received in the 30+ years of walking with Christ.

These two revelations were:

  • God’s kind of love (i.e. the love that is ‘good for enemies,’ Romans 5:10)
  • Relationships that come from God

To this day these truths are bedrock, unshakeable, and still shining bright.

WE are actually what shakes, if anything. Unexpected storms and temptations can push us off course, causing us to lose our way, and cry out for help.

Lately I’ve had some “course corrects” myself. And one of the most important things I’m convicted of is the need to refocus on God’s Word, and the things that never shake

So with that said, I want to announce that in 2024 there will be a lot more postings here. My goal is to reread and repost an article by Jay every week that pertains to the two revelations above. I’ll aim for Tuesdays (because we’re Tuesday people, of course!¹), will sometimes add personal comments (below the posts), and throw in some unrelated or previously unpublished pieces to spice things up.

That’s all for now! I invite you to join me on this new journey of refocus, add your own comments to the articles, and if they blessed you…please share them with friends.

In Love,

Pamela

Jay carried a deep and critical revelation of the love of God and of the spiritual/practical outworking of it among God’s people that was indeed his life’s message and burden. Much of what he imparted to me early on in my walk with Christ has stuck with me and helped to fashion my faith and “focus” over the past 45 years. Looking forward to the upcoming posts, and thank you, Pamela, for continuing to steward the deposit of Christ that was in him!

Okay, about “Tuesdays.” It’s a line from a movie called “Tuesdays With Morrie.” It was UNsurprisingly one that Jay Ferris recommended; I watched it with him toward the end of his life. It is a deeply moving story about a man—a retired professor of sociology—who is dying with ALS. Through this very challenging time he pours out his wisdom upon a troubled young man—a former student—who starts to regularly visit him…on Tuesdays, of course. :-) It changes the young man’s life.
The story is also in book form, and packed with quotes. Here are a few of my favorites:

“Life is a series of pulls back and forth… A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. Most of us live somewhere in the middle. A wrestling match…Which side win? Love wins. Love always wins.”

“Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.”

“Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
